This has been on my list of Things to Try, but part of me is scared I'll get so distracted by creating systems/notions that I'll abandon all the things I need to do. Paradoxical because Notion might actually help me do The Things.
Hahah I totally get it! That's why I recommend starting with a blank page and a brain dump! Having that brain dump is like having your North Star – you can always refer to it when you get off track building all the Notion spaces 🤭
I'd also recommend maybe having an accountability partner to help you keep on track. Or if you have the cash, book a pick my brain session with me so we can make sure you stay on track!
I've saved this post. Maybe it'll be my summer project. I've got stuff in Google Docs, on my Notes app, and in the app called Pocket, and emails of stuff I send to myself to "keep safe" 🫠🫠. I'd love to have one place for all this stuff
I've used quite a few templates I found for free through YouTube, but also had fun designing my own pages (no matter how simple or complex). Notion gets better with practice!
By the way... I found you by some obscure search for a ChatGPT recommendation on Substack called "The Notion Coach". You came up instead. Thanks, ChatGPT!
I swear that I have re-built my Notion world 20 times so far! It is frustrating, but I am learning a ton. I currently use Obsidian for my note taking, but Notion seems to be better at finding stuff than in Obsidian so I am contemplating moving it out of Obsidian and into Notion.
The problem is, I have such an easy way of creating journal entries in Obsidian. I just open Obsidian and it automatically creates a new journal entry for me. I wonder if there's a way that I could use Zapier to just automatically move things over to Notion... hmmm..
I'm constantly tweaking my Notion space, so don't worry about it! If you think of your tools as living things and grow and change with you, it's easier to accept that you're gonna be tweaking. I'm on like dashboard 5.21.92 right now 🤣🤣🤣
I personally haven't tried Obsidian, and there's no way that I know of that you can open Notion and immediately create an entry somewhere. You'd have to see if Obsidian integrates with other tools like Zapier.
This post came at great time for me actually: I've just started flirting around with the idea of giving Notion another go. Loving the idea of just starting with a blank page and a brain dump. Thank you!

Oooo a migration? Now I get why you're nervous about it 😅😅 yeah this would be a good summer project!
Maybe more of a copy and paste job 😜
I love Notion! I swear, it organises my whole life!
Saaaame!! What’s your fave feature in Notion?
I think it's just the flexibility. I can use it in whatever way works for me.
Ugh I love that about Notion too! Especially as a neurodivergent person always switching up my workflow. Keeps things fresh 😍

Practice makes awesome indeed! 😁
